Configuring POP Email in Microsoft Outlook 2013


This article shows you how to setup Microsoft Outlook 2013 to work with your Webhosting email account using a Secure SSL/TLS Encrypted Connection. It focuses on Microsoft Outlook 2013 but these settings are familiar with other versions of Outlook.

1. In Microsoft Outlook 2013, from the File menu, select Add Account
2. On the Auto Account Setup window select Manually configure server settings or additional server type and then click Next
3. For the Choose Service select POP or IMAP and then click Next3. On the Auto Account Setup window select Manually configure server settings or additional server type and then click Next
4. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window, enter your information as follows:

Your Name
Your first and last name

E-mail Address
Your email address

User Name
Your email address, again

Account Type
Select POP3 from the drop down

Incoming mail server
mail.yourdomainname.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
mail.yourdomainname.com

Password
Your email account password

Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
Check this box

Once you have filled in all the filed’s, click More Settings…

5. On the Internet E-mail Settings go to the Outgoing Server tab
6. Select My outgoing (SMTP) requires authentication and leave the default option of Use same settings as my incoming mail server
7. Go to the Advanced tab, and enter the information below:

Incoming server (POP3)
995

This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS)
Check this box

Outgoing server (SMTP)
587

Use the following type of encrypted connection
Select TLS from the drop down

Once you have completed the filed’s, click OK
8. Back on the Internet E-mail Settings window click Next
9. Outlook will now test your settings and if they are correct you will see the screen below, if they are not correct go back and correct your settings.
10. Click Finish
